Even though he is still at Celtic, he is currently a man on the periphery.

A Celtics player who is still on the books has been informed that his playing style will cause him to be plagued by injuries for the rest of his life.

Just as fellow countryman Ange Postecoglou was leaving for Tottenham Hotspur, Australian winger Marco Tilio came at Parkhead. Tilio returned on loan to Melbourne City, where he had previously played for Celtic, when Brendan Rodgers failed to give him many minutes.

His progress has been hindered by injuries, and the Celtic loanee was struck by the injury bug once more during the most recent match against Western United, which was won 1-0. Aurelio Vidmar gave an update on Tilio, who has sustained numerous quad and hamstring ailments in previous seasons, after he hobbled off clutching his hamstring.

Despite having a great preseason and players being ready to perform at their best, it was insisted that dynamic talents like Tilio would inevitably sustain a few injuries each season.

Tilio’s future under Rodgers is uncertain, as he has a contract with the Hoops through the summer of 2028. Regarding the Celtic winger, boss Vidmar told The West: “He’s had a great preseason. Regretfully, those men who are only strong beasts, like Tils, will sustain one injury per season, possibly two.

“With those players, that’s the distinction. With that explosive power, they provide you something more than the others can. You always run the risk, and we do everything we can to prepare them; they’re resilient, but accidents can happen.”
