Celtic Eye Rising Star as Daniel Cummings Nears Exit

With young striker Daniel Cummings set to depart Celtic as a free agent, the club has reportedly shifted its focus to another promising talent who has already caught the eye of their chief scout.

Celtic’s Summer Transfer Plans

It remains to be seen how active Celtic will be in the upcoming transfer window. Dominating the Scottish Premiership once again and making significant strides in the Champions League—pushing Bayern Munich to the limit—Brendan Rodgers may find himself in a comfortable position when it comes to squad building.

Instead, much of the club’s attention may turn to potential departures, with speculation surrounding players like Nicolas Kuhn and Cummings. Kuhn has been a standout performer, netting 18 goals and providing 13 assists, attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur and other clubs.

Meanwhile, Cummings appears set to leave after failing to agree on a new contract, largely due to limited first-team opportunities. Despite his impressive form at youth level—scoring 23 goals in 22 Lowland League matches—his exit creates a void that Celtic must look to fill.

Celtic Target Dundee United’s Owen Stirton

According to The Daily Record, Celtic are now considering a summer move for Dundee United’s Owen Stirton, following his impressive loan spell at Montrose in Scottish League One.

The 18-year-old striker has caught the attention of Celtic’s chief scout, Tosh McKinlay, who watched him in action during a goalless draw against Kelty Hearts. Despite failing to score that day, Stirton has been prolific, netting six goals in seven league appearances this season.

Could Stirton Be the Answer?

After a strong loan spell, Stirton is expected to return to Dundee United ready for the next step in his career. Whether that will be with his current club or a move to Celtic remains to be seen.

Described as “strong” by The Courier’s Dundee United reporter Alan Temple, Stirton has a crucial decision ahead. While Celtic’s interest is flattering, he must weigh the risks of making a move that could limit his first-team chances—similar to Cummings, who struggled for senior minutes at Parkhead.

Having already made an impact at senior level, Stirton may prefer to continue developing with consistent game time rather than risk being sidelined in youth football again. Though a move to Celtic is an enticing prospect, the young striker has plenty to consider before deciding his next step.
