European Giants Eye Move for “Brilliant” Rangers Star
A major European club is reportedly preparing to submit an offer for a standout Rangers player this summer, according to a fresh update on his future at Ibrox.
Rangers Reach Europa League Quarter-Finals
Barry Ferguson’s side secured a place in the Europa League quarter-finals after a tense night at Ibrox on Thursday. Despite holding a 3-1 advantage from the first leg against Fenerbahce, Jose Mourinho’s team managed a 2-0 victory in Glasgow, forcing extra time and pushing Rangers to their limits.
In the end, a dramatic penalty shootout decided the contest, with Jack Butland emerging as the hero, making two crucial saves to guide Rangers into the last eight. Next, they face a tough test against Athletic Bilbao, while a potential semi-final showdown with Manchester United looms on the horizon. Before that, however, Ferguson’s men must navigate a crucial league fixture against Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday.
Sevilla Preparing Bid for “Brilliant” Hamza Igamane
According to Vamos Mi Sevilla [via Sport Witness], Spanish side Sevilla are preparing an £8.3m bid for Rangers striker Hamza Igamane. The La Liga club, known for their European success with five UEFA Cup/Europa League titles since 2013/14, view the Moroccan as a key target.
However, Africa Foot reports that Sevilla are wary of Rangers’ valuation, with the Scottish giants demanding £20m for one of their star attackers. Losing Igamane for anything close to the Spanish club’s initial offer would be a major setback for Rangers, so the club must stand firm and push negotiations toward the higher end of their price range.
The 22-year-old forward has impressed this season, scoring nine goals in 18 Scottish Premiership starts, along with four goals in as many Europa League appearances. His performances have caught the attention of many, including former Rangers midfielder Derek Ferguson.
“The manager said he was trying to get him up to speed, but in the last few games, he has been nothing short of brilliant. He is off the cuff and had three or four nutmegs this afternoon—plus, he took his goal brilliantly. I don’t know if you remember Ted McMinn, but Igamane has that unpredictability.”
While Sevilla’s European pedigree could be tempting, Rangers’ new American investors, 49ers Enterprises, must take a strong stance and only entertain offers that meet their valuation. Ideally, though, Igamane will commit his future to Rangers and continue leading the line for years to come.
