Celtic have been accused of making an early approach for Motherwell midfielder Lennon Miller, who is also a transfer target for Rangers.

The 18-year-old has been turning heads with his performances at Fir Park, attracting interest from both sides of the Glasgow divide ahead of the summer transfer window. Former Scotland international Ross McCormack recently voiced his surprise that Rangers had yet to make a move for the youngster.

While the Ibrox club appears to be holding back, there are suggestions that Celtic may already be working behind the scenes to secure a deal.

Derek Ferguson Suggests Celtic Are Making a Move for Miller

Miller has impressed against Rangers this season, with some believing he should have been signed in the January transfer window.

However, former Rangers midfielder Derek Ferguson—speaking exclusively to Ibrox News—suggests that Celtic may already be making efforts to convince him to join them instead.

“He’s already a very good player and will become even better,” Ferguson said. “You want talented Scottish players at Rangers.

“Rangers will assess the situation, but I know Celtic have shown a strong interest. Rangers have been guilty in the past of not acting quickly enough to sign young Scottish talent, and that’s something they need to fix.

“Lennon Miller has been making a name for himself for over a year now, and I’m surprised Rangers haven’t made a move. It looks like Celtic have taken that step.

“I believe Celtic have already approached him—it’s another case of Rangers being too slow to react.”

Have Rangers Missed Their Chance?

Rangers have taken steps to secure young Scottish talent, recently agreeing to sign Lyall Cameron from Dundee ahead of the summer.

However, Miller appears to be operating at an even higher level, drawing interest from clubs abroad as well.

Ferguson believes that instead of joining either Rangers or Celtic, Miller may opt for a move overseas—following in the footsteps of his son, Lewis Ferguson, who is thriving at Bologna.

“Will Rangers sign him? I don’t think so,” Ferguson added. “His future might be elsewhere. It’ll be interesting to see if Celtic get him, but I think he’ll move abroad.

“Look at the Scottish players who have gone to Italy—he might see that as his best option. For too long, we’ve overlooked young Scottish talent, and that needs to change.”
