Positive reactions to Celtic’s victory over RB Leipzig have been seen not only in Scotland but also in the European media.
The German media was enraged by Celtic’s victory against Leipzig as soon as the final whistle blew at Parkhead on Tuesday night, denouncing the Bundesliga team for their fourth consecutive Champions League loss.
The majority of the press has focused on congratulating Brendan Rodgers and his side on their victory, with the exception of one German outlet that disparaged Celtic icon Nicolas Kuhn.
Ally McCoist is next. The former Rangers striker had the chance to share his thoughts on Celtic’s crushing of Leipzig, and he came out as both heartbroken and excited about the victory at Celtic Park.
Ally McCoist is amazed by Celtic’s strength and speed against RB Leipzig.
While commentating for TNT Sports, McCoist told Alan Brazil that although the outcome was “great,” he “didn’t particularly enjoy” praising Celtic for their significant victory over Leipzig.
“What can I say? It didn’t break my heart, but I don’t particularly enjoy saying it. What about your mob on Tuesday night?” McCoist said on talkSPORT. I’m sorry.
“Look at the speed at which Celtic is playing right now; they have strength and speed, especially in light of what happened in Dortmund.
“To recover with a few outstanding outcomes, and I initially believed the point was a fantastic outcome.” On Tuesday night, I watched the game’s highlights. Fantastic outcome.
But you guys deserve some recognition. You’ve given yourself a great chance to get qualified.
Additional items It is heartbreaking for Ally McCoist to acknowledge Celtic.
Rangers have struggled to win trophies for more than 20 years, and McCoist has had to watch as Celtic dominate Scottish football.
In light of that, here are a few more Celtic remarks regarding Brendan Rodgers’ squad this season that McCoist hasn’t been pleased to make.
McCoist on Rangers vs. Celtic referees: “We’re fooling ourselves if we don’t believe that some of the officials who officiate Rangers and Celtic games may have been a child or a family member with a Celtic or Rangers affinity.
“However, we cannot afford to question their moral character.”
If it helped Rangers, McCoist would back Celtic: “Did you ask me if I would cheer them on? Yes. No, I doubt that I would encourage them. Although I’m not sure if I would covertly support them, I would reluctantly accept a triumph. Maybe that’s going too far with it.
McCoist’s Celtic “sour grapes”: “I believe that this year’s Old Firm isn’t doing well on either side. I truly don’t, I honestly do not. Although I believe Celtic is superior, they aren’t quite as good as they have been in recent years. It’s not sour grapes, though, because I honestly believe both teams are mediocre, as I have stated for weeks.
“I am genuinely devastated at what’s going on at my club,” McCoist said after Celtic’s victory over Rangers. I’m looking into it; the hiring practices in the last few years have been incredibly bad. To be honest, they have provided money to people who haven’t used it particularly sensibly.
“We’re playing home games at Hampden at the highest level. We’re currently kilometres away from the pitch at this point. We have an incredible amount of work to do, and even though it pains me to say it, we are miles away from the pitch.
Although McCoist is a pretty reasonable commentator when discussing Celtic, he is unable to conceal his displeasure when acknowledging the strength of the Parkhead club in comparison to Rangers.
