Sekou Kaba Reveals Stoke, Norwich, and Swansea Interest Before Cardiff Move
Cardiff City’s new signing, Sekou Kaba, has revealed that Stoke City, Norwich City, and Swansea City were all keen on securing his signature following his departure from Manchester United.
All three clubs were active in the January transfer market, with Stoke City making key signings to support new boss Mark Robins. Meanwhile, Norwich City, under Johannes Hoff Thorup, and Swansea City, then managed by Luke Williams, were also looking to strengthen their squads.
However, Cardiff City ultimately secured Kaba’s signature, completing the deal after the transfer window had closed. The 17-year-old striker has now confirmed that he had multiple offers before choosing the Bluebirds.
Speaking to Africa Foot about the interest from Stoke, Norwich, and Swansea, Kaba explained why he opted for Cardiff.
“Several clubs were interested in me, including Stoke City, Swansea City, and Norwich City. But after discussions with my management team, we decided Cardiff was the best option, and we have no regrets. It’s the ideal environment for my development. I chose Cardiff because it offers a clearer path to the first team. I’ll be playing with the U21s rather than the U18s, which is a big plus for my progression.”
Building His Future at Cardiff
Kaba joined Cardiff City as an exciting young prospect after injuries slowed his development at Manchester United. With other clubs hoping to sign him while his value was lower, the Bluebirds saw an opportunity to invest in a player with significant potential.
While he may need time to settle and develop in academy football, Kaba’s signing could prove to be a smart long-term move for Cardiff.
Championship Clubs Eye Two-Week Break
With the international break in full swing, Stoke City, Norwich City, and Swansea City are looking to make the most of the two-week pause.
For Stoke, the time off is crucial as they continue their battle against relegation. Mark Robins’ side remains in a fight to stay in the Championship, and the break offers a chance to regroup ahead of their final eight games.
Norwich and Swansea, meanwhile, appear set for mid-table finishes, currently sitting 13th and 16th in the league standings, respectively.
