If Philippe Clement is fired, Dan Bardell thinks Steven Gerrard’s return to Ibrox will be ruined by Michael Beale’s tenure with Rangers.

As manager of Al-Ettifaq, the Liverpool icon is currently under fire for his team’s performance in the Saudi Pro League this year [Football Scotland].

There may be a reunion in the works if the 44-year-old leaves the Saudi team and Clement moves on to Ibrox. Bardell, a writer with Sky Sports and talkSPORT, has stated that this is unlikely due to Beale’s unsuccessful stint with the Gers upon his return in 2022. “I believe that ship has sailed,” Bardell stated in an exclusive interview with Ibrox News.

“I believe that Gerrard’s chances of ever returning there have been eliminated by Beale’s return and the way things turned out.”Many Rangers supporters were not delighted with his departure. Beale was the mastermind behind the scheme, according to some admirers, but he simply didn’t work out.

“I simply don’t see me losing my temper and returning to the Rangers.”

After Michael Beale’s stint, Steven Gerrard’s Rangers return is doubtful. Prior to entering management, which has proven to be disastrous following unsuccessful stints with Sunderland and the Light Blues, the former QPR boss served as Gerrard’s assistant manager.

It’s reasonable to assume that he isn’t well-liked at Ibrox, which might ruin any hopes of the Al-Ettifaq manager going back to Glasgow. With the League Cup victory against Motherwell covering up some of the rifts, it does seem like a shift is happening as fans get impatient with Clement.

Gerrard will always be mentioned if the Belgian departs, but it seems doubtful currently because of his connections to his former assistant and his tense departure from Ibrox.
