Prospective Rangers owner Andrew Cavenagh is already setting his sights on a significant overhaul of the club’s training facilities as his takeover moves closer to completion.

Record Sport has learned that Cavenagh, accompanied by his takeover team, toured the Auchenhowie training complex two weeks ago, just a day after watching Barry Ferguson’s side secure a place in the Europa League quarter-finals with a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Fenerbahce.

Cavenagh then crossed the Glasgow divide to attend the Old Firm derby at Parkhead the following Sunday, where he witnessed Ferguson lead Rangers to a thrilling victory.

However, between those high-profile fixtures, the four-man delegation conducted an in-depth inspection of the Milngavie-based facility and has already begun drafting plans for immediate upgrades once the multi-million-pound takeover is finalized.

As previously reported, Cavenagh has partnered with the San Francisco 49ers’ investment arm to orchestrate a buyout that will secure a majority stake of over 50 percent.

While Cavenagh’s legal team is still working through the final stages of due diligence, a formal agreement is expected to be signed off in the coming weeks.

This will give Cavenagh’s American-backed consortium the green light to invest heavily in both the squad and the club’s infrastructure, with a substantial budget already allocated for improvements over the summer.
