Leeds United and Aston Villa are among the clubs showing interest in Nicolas Raskin, according to TEAMtalk. Meanwhile, Rangers have set their asking price for the midfielder, whom they regard as the best in Scotland.
Since arriving from Standard Liege in January 2023, Raskin has become a key figure at Ibrox. The Belgian international recorded one goal and one assist in 31 appearances across all competitions during the 2023-24 season. So far this campaign, he has netted twice and provided six assists in 39 games.
The 24-year-old recently earned his first senior cap for Belgium, making a late substitute appearance in their 3-1 defeat to Ukraine in Murcia. He then started in the return leg of the UEFA Nations League Play-offs A/B, receiving a standing ovation after his full international debut. Several top European clubs were in attendance, scouting potential signings.
TEAMtalk sources suggest Rangers may struggle to keep hold of Raskin this summer, with his standout displays against Celtic and in the Europa League attracting attention from major European leagues.
Premier League clubs Aston Villa and Brentford have been particularly impressed, as has Leeds United, who are pushing for automatic promotion from the Championship. German and Italian sides are also closely monitoring the midfielder.
With Raskin under contract until 2027, Rangers are expected to demand a significant transfer fee. TEAMtalk understands the Scottish club will seek at least £20 million for him, in line with their strategy of developing talent and selling for profit.
Raskin isn’t the only Rangers player drawing interest. Moroccan forward Hamza Igamane, who recently made his international debut, is on Everton’s radar. The Toffees may need to offer over £20 million to secure his signature, as Rangers look to maximize earnings from potential sales.
Raskin Touted as Scotland’s Best Midfielder
Raskin’s performances have earned widespread praise, with Rangers Sporting Director Nils Koppen hailing him as a fan favorite.
Koppen told the Daily Record: “With his big fighting heart, he has won over our supporters. After his strong displays in the Old Firm and against top European sides like Man United, Tottenham, and Fenerbahce, our fans see him as the best midfielder in Scotland.”
Teammate Cyriel Dessers believes Raskin has the quality to succeed in a top European league, stating: “I’ve seen players in Serie A playing as a No. 6 who aren’t better than Nico. He can reach the upper tier of a top competition, but he must choose the right move.”
Rangers and 49ers Enterprises Plans
TEAMtalk reports that the 49ers Enterprises have ambitious plans for Rangers, not only aiming to support the local community but also investing around £25 million per season in new signings.
Rangers legend Ally McCoist is optimistic about the takeover, comparing it to Leeds United’s transformation under the 49ers’ ownership.
“Leeds seem to be in a good place,” McCoist said. “They’ve got a solid structure, a good manager, and quality players. If Rangers can achieve something similar, I’d be delighted.”
TEAMtalk sources suggest as many as 11 players could leave Rangers this summer, including Dessers, as the club looks to reshape its squad.
