Cooper and the Foxes players have come under fresh fire following their Premier League loss to Manchester United prior to the international break.
After receiving criticism from Leicester City supporters, Steve Cooper was informed he “doesn’t help himself.”
Just before the international break, the Foxes lost 3-0 to Manchester United at Old Trafford, their worst loss of the Premier League season thus far. During the game of “Cooper, sort it out!” there were yells and loud jeers from the other end following the final whistle.
Prior to their return to action on Saturday, November 23 at 12:30 p.m. at the King Power Stadium against Chelsea and former manager Enzo Maresca, Cooper has guided City to 10 points from their first 11 games of the season, placing them three points above the relegation zone in 15th position. However, following the loss to United, former Leicester player Matt Piper has attacked the manager and players.
He remarked, “I don’t say that lightly, but it was a particularly poor performance from the team, but also the manager,” on the When You’re Smiling podcast on BBC Radio Leicester.
According to Steve Cooper, he never sensed the arrival of a goal. I don’t understand why you wait until the 70th minute to make your first substitution when you are behind 2-0 and don’t feel like a goal is imminent.
“You must make a change. If you feel that way when standing in your technical area, you won’t score.
At Old Trafford, Cooper replaced Wilfred Ndidi with Bilal El Khannouss, who had scored against the Red Devils in the Carabao Cup at the end of last month. Kasey McAteer and Odsonne Edouard both came off the substitutes’ bench in the closing minutes.
“I know a lot of fans are already to the point where they want him gone, but he doesn’t help himself,” Piper stated. “He made remarks like that following the game, but he took no action.
“On a particularly poor afternoon, you have to take action as the club’s manager and leader to turn things around.
“He tells you straight away what the problem is but it keeps happening week on week and that’s really not helpful for the manager.”
“It’s a 3-0 defeat and you’re not going to get cheered off whether you’re here at Old Trafford or anywhere else,” Cooper said in response to the jeers following the United game.
As previously stated, I have no issue with any fan’s response, positive or negative, as they have a right to it given the three away games, the money they spend, and their dedication.
Regardless of how they may feel, I greatly respect that. Like anything else, I’ll embrace any circumstance and be inspired to assist it improve and continue in accordance with our beliefs.
“We are working with the guys that are currently with us throughout the international break. Off the pitch, we will put in more effort to study, assess, plan, and prepare for our next start. Since there isn’t a game the next weekend, there may be some leeway in terms of game preparation, but staff members won’t have any days off.
