Leicester City are reportedly preparing to terminate the contract of winger Stephy Mavididi following a heated clash with newly appointed head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Tensions have been brewing behind the scenes at King Power Stadium, with sources close to the club revealing a serious disagreement between Mavididi and Van Nistelrooy during a recent training session. The dispute is said to have stemmed from tactical disagreements and a lack of discipline, escalating to the point where the relationship became “irreparable.”

Mavididi, 25, joined Leicester from Montpellier in 2023 and has shown flashes of brilliance, contributing crucial goals during their promotion push. However, his recent dip in form, combined with reported attitude issues, has raised concerns within the coaching staff.

Van Nistelrooy, who took over managerial duties in early 2025, is known for his firm approach to squad discipline and is believed to have made it clear that he will not tolerate dissent within the ranks.

Leicester are now exploring legal and financial avenues to end Mavididi’s contract prematurely. While no official statement has been released, club insiders suggest the decision is imminent.

Mavididi’s camp has remained silent, though it’s expected the player will seek opportunities elsewhere should the termination go through. Several clubs in France and Turkey have reportedly expressed interest.

The move signals Van Nistelrooy’s intent to stamp his authority on the squad as Leicester look to rebuild their identity in the Premier League. Whether this bold decision pays off remains to be seen.
