A January loan transfer for Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been linked to Aston Villa.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall of Chelsea is allegedly a target for Aston Villa during the January transfer window. Only last summer did the midfielder go from Leicester City to Chelsea, having been instrumental in the Foxes’ championship run under Enzo Maresca and ensuring the team’s quick return to the Premier League.
Along with Tosin Adarabioyo, Pedro Neto, Joao Felix, Jadon Sancho, and Villa’s own Omari Kellyman, Dewsbury-Hall was one of Chelsea’s summer acquisitions. Dewsbury-Hall hasn’t played much so far, despite his strong lower division play the previous season, which convinced Maresca to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
Only one of his three Premier League outings this season—a six-minute stint at West Ham—has come since August, and he has only played 43 minutes overall. In recent weeks, he has been left out of the Premier League squad despite having more opportunities in the Europa Conference League and the EFL Cup, including scoring in a 4-2 victory over Gent.
When Maresca brings Chelsea to the King Power following the international break, Dewsbury-Hall will be itching to play.
Even though the 26-year-old has recently joined Chelsea, his future is already being questioned. According to Spanish reports, Villa may offer Dewsbury-Hall a loan when the January transfer market opens, with the possibility of purchasing him outright the following summer if all goes according to plan.
According to the report, Chelsea would like to recoup the £30 million they invested on Dewsbury-Hall, who presently behind Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, and Enzo Fernandez in Maresca’s midfield hierarchy. The manager also has access to former City loanee Cesare Casadei and Carney Chukwuemeka.
Villa, on the other hand, has plenty of midfield options right now, so some people may be surprised by these rumours. However, Unai Emery’s available players have been dealing with a number of injuries, including Jacob Ramsey and Boubacar Kamara, who both sustained injuries at Liverpool over the weekend. Ross Barkley is a potential addition, although Youri Tielemans and Amadou Onana have already secured berths.
