Philippe Clement is aware that correcting every issue at Rangers will need multiple transfer windows.

Due to the squad’s ongoing problems, one of which is the dearth of homegrown players who can be included in the Europa League roster, the manager was only able to list 21 senior names—instead of the maximum 25—on the roster.

The majority of the top players, like Billy Gilmour, Scott McTominay, and John McGinn, are beyond the Rangers’ budget, although there are still deals to be found in the near future.

Rangers should keep an eye on Liam Lindsay following his Scotland call-up.

Danny Armstrong and Lawrence Shankland have contracts expiring in the summer at Kilmarnock, but Nils Koppen should be keeping an eye on a recently called-up member of the Scotland team.

Even as a young player for Partick Thistle, Liam Lindsay exuded a certain something.

While he was never nearly as good as Firhill’s Alan Hansen, he was good enough to gain a transfer to England, where he has remained ever since.

Lindsay was previously given the opportunity to talk about a pre-contract arrangement with Rangers.

With Scotland’s defensive problems, Lindsay, who has been overlooked in previous seasons, may be starting with John Souttar.

Lindsay never lost hope even after receiving his first call-up at the age of 28, according to The Sun:

“I believe that during the past few years, the media or other sources have always brought me up.

“I just had to keep doing what I was doing for my club; it’s not like I’ve ever lost faith or anything.”

“For the past two years, I have been playing consistently and well. I believe that this is my best football game.

“I was just waiting for my best opportunity to join the squad, and happily it has arrived.”

Lindsay might be Clement’s Helander 2.0.

Lindsay, who is almost 6 feet 3 inches tall, is a strong defender who resembles Filip Helander.

Preston’s defence is never the same without him since he excels at the fundamentals.

Lindsay is similarly carefree when it comes to possession; she keeps things straightforward, self-assured, and understated.

Rangers have been lacking a defender of this calibre since Helander’s protracted injury problems virtually terminated his Ibrox career. The former Thistle stopper might be a useful addition to the team.

Though Lindsay would be more than capable of managing the physical aspect of the SPFL, Leon Balogun won’t be around for long, and Souttar and Robin Propper’s pairing has been more stable in recent weeks.

It can only be beneficial if gaps like these can be filled without going over budget and by introducing another domestic choice.
