Rangers may have to sell Hamza Igamane if major offer arrives – sources

Rangers could be compelled to cash in on Hamza Igamane this summer should a substantial offer arrive, sources have told Football Insider.

The Moroccan striker has rapidly become a standout performer at Ibrox, cementing cult hero status with a dramatic late winner in last month’s Old Firm clash against Celtic at Parkhead.

Igamane’s impressive haul of 15 goals and three assists has attracted interest from English clubs, with Football Insider previously reporting that Everton are in a strong position to land the 22-year-old.

While the club’s new owners, 49ers Enterprises, hope to build their revamped squad around players like Nico Raskin and Igamane, insiders say Rangers would have to seriously consider any lucrative bids that come in for the forward.

Having signed him for £2.5 million from FAR Rabat just a year ago, Rangers stand to make a significant profit should a “big-money” offer materialize. However, the 49ers remain eager to keep hold of Igamane and view him as central to their vision for the club.

Former Man United scout Mick Brown suggested in January that Rangers would entertain sizeable offers from Premier League suitors, but it’s understood the 49ers may prefer to keep their star man.

The new ownership is reportedly ready to back their first managerial appointment with a £25 million summer transfer budget, placing the club on its most secure financial footing in years.

As Barry Ferguson continues as interim manager until season’s end, the 49ers are expected to wait before naming their long-term choice. With the club’s competitive campaign winding down following a Europa League quarter-final exit to Athletic Bilbao, attention now turns to shaping a promising new era.

Securing a permanent deal for loan star Vaclav Cerny is said to be a top priority, and locking down Igamane’s future would further solidify the 49ers’ ambitions for a strong start in Govan.
