Celtic Dominate 2024/25 PFA Scotland Team of the Year
PFA Scotland has unveiled its Team of the Year for the 2024/25 season, and it’s no surprise that Celtic have once again taken centre stage.
Voted on annually by Scottish Premiership players, the team reflects those considered the standout performers of the campaign.
Celtic are enjoying yet another stellar season, having already secured the Premier Sports Cup and sitting on the brink of clinching a fourth straight Premiership title. They’re also favourites to complete a domestic treble by lifting the Scottish Cup in May, provided they overcome St Johnstone in the upcoming semi-final.
Unsurprisingly, seven Celtic players have been included in the prestigious lineup.
Seven Celtic Players Make the Cut
Veteran keeper Kasper Schmeichel earns the goalkeeper spot, with Alistair Johnston at right-back and Cameron Carter-Vickers lining up at centre-back.
At left-back, however, it’s Hearts’ James Penrice who gets the nod ahead of Celtic’s Greg Taylor.
The midfield trio in the 4-3-3 setup includes Celtic captain Callum McGregor and Reo Hatate, joined by Rangers’ Nicolas Raskin. Notably, Celtic’s record signing Arne Engels misses out despite an impressive debut season.
In attack, Nicolas Kühn and Daizen Maeda represent Celtic on the wings, while Dundee United’s Sam Dalby leads the line.
McGregor and Carter-Vickers Continue to Earn Praise
While Celtic won a domestic double in Brendan Rodgers’ first season back last year, only four players made the 2024 Team of the Year. Carter-Vickers and McGregor were joined by Liam Scales and former goalkeeper Joe Hart.
This year marks the fourth straight season that both McGregor and Carter-Vickers have been selected for the XI — a testament to their consistency and influence. Reo Hatate follows as the closest competitor, featuring in two of the last four editions.
Since 2022, McGregor and Carter-Vickers have proven to be the Premiership’s most reliable and respected players.
