Bulldogs Youngster Jack Todd Set for Surgery After Fracturing Arm

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs young gun Jack Todd is facing another injury setback after suffering a fractured arm during the club’s Good Friday NRL clash. The 20-year-old rookie, who only made his debut three weeks ago, is now set to undergo surgery and is expected to be sidelined for 8 to 10 weeks.

Todd sustained the injury late in the game, with medical scans confirming a small fracture in his right arm. It’s a particularly cruel blow for the rising star, who endured a difficult 2024 campaign plagued by serious injuries, including fractures in both arms. This latest fracture reportedly occurred at the end of a surgical plate that was inserted during a previous procedure.

Bulldogs General Manager of Football Phil Gould addressed the incident, confirming that Todd would require surgery to repair the damage.

“It’s incredibly unfortunate for Jack,” Gould said. “He’s worked so hard to get back on the field after last year’s challenges, and to suffer another setback like this is gut-wrenching. The fracture is small, but because of its location and the previous surgeries, it will need to be fixed surgically. We’re looking at a recovery timeline of about two months.”

Todd made his NRL debut against Cronulla just three rounds ago and had quickly become a fan favourite with his fearless style and energy off the bench. Despite limited appearances, he showcased strong defensive work and composure beyond his years, impressing the Bulldogs coaching staff and earning praise from teammates and supporters alike.

The injury comes as a significant blow not only to the player himself but to the Bulldogs, who have been battling to maintain squad depth amid ongoing injury concerns. Todd was seen as an emerging talent who could contribute regularly in the back half of the season.

His determination and work ethic had become hallmarks of his game, and many in the Bulldogs’ inner circle have spoken about his maturity and professionalism since arriving at the club.

“Jack is a resilient young man,” Gould added. “He’s been through worse, and we’ve got no doubt he’ll come back stronger from this. He’s got the full support of the club, and our medical team will ensure he receives the best possible care through his recovery.”

The Bulldogs will now have to reshuffle their squad in the coming weeks, with coach Cameron Ciraldo expected to explore other options within the club’s development pathways to fill the void left by Todd.

Fans have taken to social media to send messages of support, with many expressing disappointment at the news but also praising Todd’s spirit and determination.

For Todd, it’s another test of his resilience. The young forward has shown time and again that adversity won’t hold him back, and while this latest injury delays his progress, his attitude and potential suggest he still has a bright future in the game.

The Bulldogs are hopeful Todd will be fit and firing in the latter stages of the 2025 season and ready to make an even greater impact when he returns.
