Craig Moore thinks that stopgap investments won’t work and that the Rangers need new owners in charge.
The club has disclosed an operating loss for the previous fiscal year of £17.2 million.
The Daily Record stated on November 14 that the club’s running expenses are still as high as £110 million.
“I don’t know who is in favour of this in terms of the fans, or what the fans’ feelings are towards this, but I think it needs new ownership to really change things and put new infrastructure in place to go and attack it in a serious manner,” Moore said on Go Radio. “Is investment just going to be a stop-gap to do something in January?” Moore asked.
It’s almost like you’re being hunted while you’re on top. Rangers are pursuing, but the daily struggle can cause blindness.
“If you don’t have someone who has that vision of what Rangers will look like in 15 or 20 years, this is now a serious matter.” This need significant funding, not just a window.
Rangers need new owners to clean up the club’s current mess.
Everyone can see that things are not going well financially for the team.
High revenue but a sizable operating loss points to more serious structural problems that call for more than sporadic cash injections.
Fans are probably going to support this as well, and new ownership may definitely handle this with a new approach.
Football has become a more competitive sport, and teams must not just compete season after season but also use sustainable strategies to plan for future success.
Moore’s appeal for a long-term vision is in line with the necessity of building young academies, upgrading infrastructure, and possibly implementing a more international brand strategy.
The club might become a force to be reckoned with again if new owners can restore the spark that has been missing for years.
