Australia’s new star centre Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii has been benched for Sunday’s Autumn Nations Series encounter against Wales in Cardiff.

In one of six personnel changes, head coach Joe Schmidt substitutes Samu Kerevi for Suaalii in the team that defeated England 42-37 in a thrilling match at the Allianz Stadium in Twickenham.

Due to a concussion, captain Harry Wilson is out, and Rob Valetini moves to number eight and flanker Seru Uru replaces him.

Prop. Taniela Tupou is replaced by Allan Alaalatoa, who takes over as captain.

French-based lock Scrum-half Nic White takes Jake Gordon’s position, wing Max Jorgenson, who scored the game-winning try as a substitution last weekend, replaces injured Dylan Pietsch, and Will Skelton takes Jeremy Williams’ place for his first Test of 2024.

It will be the 50th cap for both Valetini and Kerevi.

The 21-year-old Suaalii defeated England in his debut professional rugby union match with an incredible player-of-the-match performance.

His offloading skills, which were exemplified by a brilliant one-handed throw that set up Australia’s first try for full-back Tom Wright, and his aerial ability at restarts were among his highlights.

Less than a month after switching codes from rugby league, he made his debut, giving everyone instant notice of his ability to shatter games.

Kerevi moved to Japan to play club rugby after his final Test match at the 2023 World Cup.

Australia has won nine of their previous eleven trips to the Welsh capital, and the Wallabies have already defeated Wales 2-0 in the summer series in 2024.

Wales lost 24-19 to Fiji last weekend and is looking to prevent a record 11th straight Test loss.

Wales will be played by the Australian team.

Bell, Faessler, Alaalatoa, Frost, Skelton, Uru, McReight, Valetini; Lolesio, White; Kellaway, Ikitau, Kerevi, Jorgensen.

Paenga-Amosa, Slipper, Nonggorr, Salakaia-Loto, Gleeson, McDermott, Donaldson, and Suaalii are substitutes.
