Patson Daka poised for Leicester City exit
After making the switch from Red Bull Salzburg to Leicester City, Patson Daka now seems set to depart the club. During his time in Austria, the striker was prolific, netting 54 goals in 82 matches. Although there have been flashes of his finishing ability at Leicester, Daka has struggled to replicate that form consistently in the Premier League, contributing to the team’s attacking struggles.
According to SportsBoom, the 26-year-old is expected to leave Leicester in the upcoming transfer window, with Everton reportedly among the clubs interested in securing the Zambian international for the new EPL season.
When at his best, Daka offers a significant threat up front. His athleticism poses constant problems for opposing defences, and he is particularly dangerous in open play or when capitalising on defensive errors. His sharp work rate often puts him in ideal positions to intercept passes or to link up effectively with teammates. As a striker, Daka possesses a combination of footwork, dribbling, and finishing instincts that once made him a standout at Salzburg.
Leicester struggles highlight need for change
Daka’s departure won’t come as a surprise given his mixed spell at Leicester. His goal against West Ham last December was a reminder of his talent, showcasing his quick first touch, acceleration, and clinical finishing from a midfield pass.
However, those moments have been rare. Both Daka and Leicester’s front line have faced ongoing difficulties, with the team’s lack of possession and creativity making it hard for any forward to find rhythm or consistent goal-scoring opportunities. Over the past season in particular, service to the strikers has been notably lacking, hampering Daka’s impact.
