Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises are expected to implement major changes at Rangers, with a significant sponsorship agreement with Red Bull reportedly in the pipeline.

The American consortium is nearing completion of their takeover at Ibrox, and supporters are hopeful they will invest heavily to revive the struggling Gers.

Kevin Thelwell, who is set to leave his role at Everton, is tipped to join Rangers next summer as part of the Americans’ plan to restructure the club’s leadership.

Given Rangers’ financial struggles in recent years, the incoming owners could soon provide a much-needed financial boost.

Red Bull set to become Rangers’ new sponsor

According to the Scottish Daily Express (27 April), Red Bull is expected to become the new shirt sponsor at Rangers once the takeover is finalized. The outlet suggests it wouldn’t be surprising to see the energy drink giant’s logo feature prominently on the Gers’ kits, as they are already significant investors in 49ers Enterprises.

A source has described the potential deal as a “record commercial agreement” for a Scottish club, with the prospective owners prepared to buy out existing sponsorships to secure it.

Red Bull, who also sponsor Leeds United, could benefit from Thelwell’s background with the New York Red Bulls in MLS, making his appointment appear even more strategic.

49ers poised to transform Rangers post-takeover

Gretar Steinsson is expected to lead the search for a new manager at Ibrox, and an appointment could happen soon.

Steven Gerrard has been linked with a potential return to Rangers, though after underwhelming spells at Aston Villa and Al-Ettifaq, it’s unclear if he would be keen on the role.

Interim boss Barry Ferguson may also hope to remain at the helm beyond this season, but Saturday’s (26 April) dropped points against St Mirren didn’t bolster his case.

Rangers have endured a challenging period, claiming just one Scottish Premiership title in the past 14 years.

Gerrard was the last manager to secure the title for the club, and since his departure, no manager has managed to mount a serious challenge to Celtic.

For the American investors to realistically challenge Celtic’s dominance, they will need to spend heavily on improving the squad this summer.

With a prospective Red Bull sponsorship deal potentially injecting major funds into the club, Rangers fans will be optimistic about narrowing the gap with their Old Firm rivals.
