Lyhkan King-Togia has secured a contract extension with the Dragons, as speculation grows that the rising playmaker will replace Lachlan Ilias in the halves for Saturday’s critical Magic Round clash against the Wests Tigers.
The 19-year-old has been in outstanding form in the NSW Cup, recently setting up three tries during a dominant 30-point victory over the Sea Eagles.
A product of the Dragons Academy, King-Togia has earned a new two-year deal, which will see him officially move into the club’s top 30 squad in 2026.
After showing promise in four NRL appearances at the end of last season, King-Togia is now poised for a first-grade recall in Brisbane, with Ilias reportedly set to be dropped following a rocky start to his stint with the Dragons.
“Having Lyhkan commit for the next couple of seasons is fantastic for the club,” Dragons coach Shane Flanagan said.
“He got a taste of first grade late last year and has been performing strongly for our NSW Cup team to start 2025.
“He’s a talented young half who is on the rise, and we’re excited to see his continued development in the years ahead.”
